I tried an Organic Lash Lift

It seems like lashes are all the rage now. Every few years there is an “it” facial feature and lashes are definitely having their moment. Because of this, I’ve been dying to try lash extensions, but am leery of the adhesive and the safety of the procedure.

According to the American Academy of Opthamology, the procedure does come with risks, namely: trauma to or infection of the eyelid or cornea; allergic reaction to the glue; and permanent or temporary loss of eyelashes. Infection can come from inadequate hygiene in the shop or damage to the eye during application. WHAT?! That is not something I want to risk right now. On top of all that, I just can’t commit to the upkeep. Fills every 2-3 weeks is just not in my schedule.

So I needed an alternative. While I have long lashes, they are super light and thin. Also, having fair skin and hair, when I don’t wear mascara I naturally look exhausted regardless of if I am or not. Leaving the house with naked eyes, I often get the concerned head tilt with the, “Awwww. Are you ok?”. Insert eye roll. I’m just not wearing mascara.

I found the Organic Lash Lift and was instantly excited! Because of my light lashes I paired it with a lash tint (which I have done before).  A lash lift is the safe and easy way to temporarily curl lashes. I inquired with Priscila Martin of Eve Skin Boutique. I’ve been to Priscilla before and she knows her stuff! Not only is she a skincare guru, her focus is on high quality, luxurious skincare treatments that are non-toxic and good for you! After my questions were answered about what to expect and ingredients (products are Formeldehyde and Paraban free) I booked my appointment and was so excited !

My appointment was about an hour. I was able to just lay back and realax. It was not uncomfortable or irritating at all, and I have SUPER sensitive eyes.

Here are the steps in a lash lift:

1. Lashes are glued to rod. Ensuring lashes are straight and in position.
2. Lift solution is applied processing time 6 min
3. Lift solution is removed and setting solution is applied processing time 5 min.
4. Lift solution removed

5. At this time if desired the lashes will be tinted giving more of a dramatic look as if you have mascara on without the mascara!
6. Next and final step is Organic Lash Botox. Organic Lash Botox is the most advanced eyelash repair and nourishing formula available worldwide. The treatment repairs the damaged or broken eyelash fibers with a powerful concentrate of active ingredients which guarantee to moisturize, replenish, repair and revive lashes right from the very first use, adding incredible shine, softness and eliminating dryness.
7. Enjoy amazing lifted lashes for 2-3 months!

For at least the first 24-hours after treatment, the following should be avoided.

Instructions for After Care:

After your visit there are a few things you’ll want to avoid for 24-48 hours. This will ensure everything sets the way it should.

  1. Stay away from heat, saunas, and steam (including stove-top cooking the perfect excuse to get a takeout!
  2. Water will
  3. Oils/ lotions/ cream
  4. Shampoo
  5. Facewash
  6. Makeup remover wipes

Five Tips For Lasting Lash Lift Results:

1. Within the first 24 hour period as lashes are still malleable, sleeping on your back is the best position to avoid the lashes dropping on either side.
2. When returning to using facewashes, avoid products which are quite oily in nature as this can cause lashes to lose their lift prematurely.
3. Resist the temptation to touch the lashes during the first few days after treatment. This will help to maintain the ‘lift’ effect while settling into their desired new shape.
4. Keratin lash lifts last up to three months, so usually for the entire lifecycle of the eyelashes.

Final thoughts…

Here are my before and after pics (with no mascara). The process was painless and I will definitely do it again. I do wish the results were a little more dramatic. Because of this, I do still feel the need to wear mascara. But, the look with mascara is dramatically different. That is where I see the biggest change. I can quickly swipe on one coat of mascara and it looks great! No need to use a lash curler & multiple coats.

This is not a perfect answer to lashes. While the ingredients are better, they are not perfect. Additionally, the ingredients are not all natural or organic despite the name of the procedure. It serves as a good reminder that in cosmetics and personal care, no one is regulating and brands can call anything whatever they want. But it is all about balance. This is a better option and part of a much larger movement toward cleaner living.

As a mother of a child with a food dye issue, the recent attention is something that we have been waiting for for years. On one hand, it’s amazing to see this topic gaining clout in the mainstream media and for people to actually take it seriously. However, the sudden interest and validation because of mainstream media is also frustrating. I can’t tell you how many times over the years there have been negative comments, snide remarks, eye rolls over this topic when I have discussed the issue that we deal with firsthand. This is a great opportunity to learn more and make really easy changes in your life that could be very impactful to the health of your family.

Grandma and Grandpa went to France and brought the Grandma and Grandpa went to France and brought the kids all kinds of fun candies. The ingredients are amazing. Real. And despite the fun , colorful candies- there isn’t a drop of artificial color in sight. Because in Europe that would require a warning label. But not here. The nastier, more manufactured, more side effects the better. Make it make sense 🤦‍♀️

Items on the Dirty Dozen list have the highest levels of pesticides and should be bought in organic quantities. The Clean 15 are items that tend to have lower levels of pesticides and conventional options are ok when organic isn’t available.

What do you think of this year’s lists?

Realistic healthy lunch for a Kindergartener who d Realistic healthy lunch for a Kindergartener who doesn’t eat sandwiches, is on a protein strike and is generally having a super picky phase 😜

@planetbox makes it easy to see everything in his lunch. No rummaging through a lunch bag to figure out what’s being served. Keeping it 100% organic makes it healthier right off the bat. Packing in the organic berries and cucumbers ( notice the 1 mini carrot 😄) because those always are eaten. Found organic corn chips at @wholefoods, a @madegoodfoods bar, small box of raisins & almonds (good fats and fill him up). Every lunch needs a treat and these mini @hersheys organic bars are the perfect option.

Until we move past this “selective” phase at least these are filling, wholesome foods that he will actually eat. You can send all the fancy foods you’d like in a lunchbox but if they don’t eat them no one wins.
