Kale. The word that sparks strong emotional response in typically rational people. It seems you love it (“OMG. I LOVE kale. It is such a miracle food. I can’t get enough!”) or you loathe it (“Kale is repulsive. I can’t stand to even look at it.”).
Regardless of your beliefs on kale, there is no denying the health benefits they provide. Kale is loaded with vitamin K, iron, antioxidants, aids in digestion, is high in calcium and vitamin C. Super food!
Before you get all worked up defending one side of the kale issue, check out this tried and true recipe for easy, mind blowing, organic kale chips that everyone (even kale haters) is sure to love.
First, begin with two large bunches of organic kale. It is important to use organic kale as kale is one of the worst offenders on the now famous “Dirty Dozen” list of crops most contaminated with pesticide residue.
Next, gather supplies. It’s not much. All you need is:
- Fresh, organic Kale
- Avocado Oil
- Salt
- Garlic Powder
Let’s get cooking! Easy Organic Kale Chips coming up!
Time needed: 20 minutes
- Preheat oven to 400
- Wash and dry the kale thoroughly.
- Remove the leaves from the stems.
- Lay out on a baking sheet (make sure it is dry)
- Drizzle Avocado oil over the kale.
Don’t be shy! Give it a good coating and toss to cover evenly.
- Sprinkle a little salt and garlic powder.
- Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes.
Check often and toss midway through cook time. Ovens vary and these can burn easily. We like ours a little more well done, so I go 20 minutes. Removed when crispy.
Enjoy!
No joke, these kale chips are the favorite healthy snack of my three children. They are literally devoured in minutes. These aren’t unusual, fun-snack deprived children. They love good food as much as the next guy. The kale chips are just that good. Before you roll your eyes and move on, give it a try. You will love these and I bet they end up in the snack rotation.
